Market and Mondiality at the Galleria Continua
Art Market | Since 2008, Galleria Continua hosts an event/fair that brings together galleries from around the world in its site Les Moulins, one hour from Paris. The Galleria’s 2017 edition took place at the same time as the FIAC; it was presented at CENTQUATRE’s vast location, becoming the epicenter of a global art market.
Continua Sphères Ensemble gathers a series of galleries, combining trends from the mainstream art market and the geocultural markets. Twenty-five countries are present, from Germany to Azerbaijan, including China, Ivory Coast and Colombia… The Galleria Continua groups nineteen exhibitors, positioning itself at the center of a large network. The group is composed of galleries from emerging countries, galleries with a significant influence on the market such as Perrotin or Tornabuoni Art, prospective galleries such as IIn Situ, and allied institutions such as Cittadellarte - Fondazione Pistoletto.
Previous to the FIAC, the Galleria’s market-oriented event organized a presentation of monumental artworks from forty-one artists including Ai Weiwei, Daniel Buren, Anish Kapoor, Kader Attia, Leila Alaoui… Through this project Galleria Continua joined a new sphere that blends the market with the concept of mondiality, focusing on the development of a culture of diversity. By choosing CENTQUATRE’s popular neighborhood, Continua created a “public/private” cultural synergy that renovates the art galleries’ standard model.
