What is digital drawing ?

Contemporary Art | « I was amazed that it was the telephone which can bring back drawing. I thought that was very funny ! » notes David Hockney, who took hold of the iphone and then the ipad for drawing almost as early as they appeared (2007 and 2010), and recovered with enthusiasm the spontaneity of drawing he had left behind. From the beginning of electronics, artists have questioned the stakes of digital drawing by ordering their lines to the machine : this is often at the expense of the expressive gesture of the hand. Mobile digital tablets now enable a return to a spontaneous gesture of the hand and offer new openings for artists practising this discipline. With virtual reality and augmented reality technologies, they explore new challenges in drawing.
