Will virtual reality museums transform the experience of the work of art?

Contemporary Art | The recent years have seen the emergence of virtual reality museums. Private collections are pioneers in this field, seeking a presentation mode that responds to the changes in contemporary society by making them accessible to a wider public. These virtual reality museums open up new ways of experiencing works of art.

In weightlessness

The first collectors who created a virtual reality museum were Dominique and Sylvain Levy in 2016 for their collection of contemporary Chinese art. When you put on the virtual reality glasses to enter the museum, you have no idea that you will stay as long as you would in a physical museum. You intuitively go from one work to another, you go from one floor to another by the elevator and you experience changes of scale. It’s fluid, there is no one in this futuristic architecture... and you can walk on water !
