Contemporary Art | In 1953, the Lyon Dominican community took up the challenge of establishing the order in the modernity of the time by calling upon the services of Le Corbusier, one of the most visionary architects of the 20th century, to build their new monastery in Arbresle, near Lyon.

The monastery opened in 1959 and it was Father Couturier behind the initial request : a key figure in the revival of religious art after the Second World War, capable of convincing Léger, Braque, Matisse and even Bazaine to cross the threshold of the church and create new pieces rooted in the spirituality of this era.
