Art from across the ages at TEFAF CURATED Maastricht
Art Market | In its third edition, TEFAF Maastricht consolidates the development of TEFAF curated, a contemporary project committed to building a bridge between different artistic periods and to stimulate the markets.
TEFAF curated relies on the work of a chosen personality or a notorious curator who selects artworks to be exhibited in the leading fair of antiques, the artists concerned choose a gallery to represent them.
Following Sydney Picasso (2015) and Mark Kremer (2016), Penelope Curtis, Director of the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum at Lisbon (ex Director of Tate Britain), will curate the 2017 edition, which is inspired on the theme of the reclining or recumbent figure. Seven contemporary artists will come together in this respected institution : Charlotte Dumas (Andriesse Eyck Galerie), David Tremlett (Galerie Jean Brolly), Thomas Schütte (Konrad Fischer Galerie), Sadie Murdoch (Roberto Polo Gallery), Ernst Wilhelm Nay (Aurel Scheibler), Suchan Kinoshita (Nadja Vilenne) and Ettore Spaletti (Vistamare di Benedetta Spaletti srl).
Although many exhibitors already present notorious contemporary artists in their stands, TEFAF Curated makes a small step towards the insertion of a contemporary branch from the primary market into the secondary one.
