Koolhaas abolishes temporality
Contemporary Art | For the Milan and Venice Prada Foundations, Murcia Prada is calling on Salvatore Settis to conceive a double exhibition Serial Classic and Portable Classic. Against the grain, the eminent art historian and archaeological specialist brings to the contemporary spirit the question of the copy, the serial, and the mastery over a work of art. An exhibition design by Rem Koolhaas leads us on a tour through time.
Articulating flexible accumulation through the use of Plexiglas and an interplay of reflections, mirrors and transparency, the Dutch architect constructs a dynamic work : monumental statues whose stands are hidden by seemingly suspended platforms, a long display case that seems to go through a wall... A « pop up » design that brings the visitor into a field of disturbances that abolishes any idea of temporality and moves us toward a reactivation of the past, a contemporary past.
