Organized under the patronage of sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Art Dubai 2015 welcomed 86 galleries (85 in 2014) from 35 countries (34 last year) to the Madinat Jemeirah. Among the 72 exhibitors in contemporary art, 31 were European, including Galleria Continua, with 8 French galleries (Daniel Templon, Nathalie Obadia...) signaling an increasing international presence. The 9th edition of the fair’s mission was to highlight artists from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. With the goal of promoting the artistic production of a marginal regional market on an international level, Art Dubai is gaining ground year after year. In their communications, we note a marked desire for increased substance. Annex initiatives to the fair, like Campus Art Dubai, the Art Salon and the Sheika Manal Little Artist Programme promote experimentation, helping to position the fair in the MENASA regional ecosystem.
