From maps to formlessness
Contemporary Art | Like numerous contemporary artists seizing on cartography in their work, Cathryn Boch tackles the very structure of the paper, living matter and a metaphor for global territories in perpetual transformation.
The artists pushes the material to its limits, scratching, tearing, assembling and pricking photographs and maps...so many deformations that reformulate real regions and act as movements toward new, imaginary spaces. In this research period, Cathryn Boch exceeds the paper’s ability to resist, exploding and reconstructing the support. From formlessness emerges interwoven threads, a nebulous form that could assume another space-time : the territory of the future.
