Contemporary Art | Ahead of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and China, billionaire Deng Xihong has financed the ChiFra #1 exhibition with a donation of more than one million euros. Twenty-four Chinese artists and fourteen French artists whose work was exhibited during the 2013 FIAC are inaugurating a cycle of future artistic events. The watchword is exchange, and while this does encompass art and culture, it is the exchange of skills that is key with the French savoir-faire on the one hand and the Chinese network culture on the other. With five collectors from China and Hong Kong joining the Pompidou centre’s international circle of friends, China is making no secret of its desire to export and adapt a business model that has proved itself through its attendances rates (report : artnewspaper 2012).
