Cindy Sherman and fashion
Art & Business | For about thirty years, Cindy Sherman has brought the worlds of fashion and luxury to boiling point; the complex typology of the image of the woman modeled by the artist is frequently taken up by magazines, jewellery, cosmetics and designers : the special commissions for the luxury magazines Interview and Vogue in 1983, Vanity Fair in 1985, Harper’s Bazaar in 1993, Pop in 2010 and Playboy and Garage magazine in 2013. Design houses like Comme des Garçons in 1994, Marc Jacobs in 2006 and 2013, and Balenciaga in 2010 have called on her to interpret the brand vision of a season. Anna Hu entrusted her with the design of a piece of jewellery in 2010 and M.A.C Cosmetics with one of its advertising campaigns in 2011. An exponential multiplication of collaborations for a quasi-formatted equation by the planet. Fashion & Luxury : the image of the woman + contemporary art=Cindy Sherman. Trendy recycling and mise en abîme of an era.
